“The Six Attitudes of High Achievers”

Make No Small Plans

Quote:
“Make no little plans;
They have no magic to stir men’s blood
And probably they will not be realized.
Make big plan; aim high in hope and work,
Remembering that a noble,
Logical diagram once recorded will never die,
But long after we are gone will be a living thing,
Asserting itself with ever-growing insistence."

Reflection: This quote talks about the importance of aiming for high plans. If you aim high you will have challenges and the work in the end will all be worth it. For example, if your aim is to graduate high school and get a job then that isn't working high enough. You should have goals, after graduating high school you will achieve a higher plan and keep going to school until you get a bachelors degree or higher. A high aim is like what you see in the future of what you want to pursue.

Do What They Fear

Quote:
"Fear is the brains way of saying
That there is something important
For you to overcome"

Reflection: This quote is important because fear does overcome in the minds of many people. People get scared in what the future holds, they don't set out a goal in with which to set to achieve it. But, instead the brain uses the fears of that person pushing them to pursue it. For example, when you don't pass the mathematics class in college you have to take it again. But, for some part people decide not not to due to the fear of failure agian. This fear can help the person to keep trying till they understand the standards of mathematics. Therefore, fear is important for the brain to overcome.

Are Willing to Prepare

Quote:
"Proper preparation prevents poor performance."

Reflection:

Are Willing to Risk Failure

Quote:
"If you want something you can have it,
But only if you want everything that goes with it,
Including all the hard work and the despair,
And only if you're willing to risk failure."

Reflection: By risking failure you are helping yourself to improve your mistakes. Then by the mistakes you can go back and fixing them to try it out again. For example, when you get a wrong answer on your homework assignment, you ask the teacher or find examples to help you improve your wrong answer. Another way is when you have you take a chance by asking someone out. They may say yes or no. But you are risking yourself to failure if you don't try again.

Are Teachable
Quote:
“Admitting that you need help…
doesn’t make you broken.
It makes you fixable.
And teachable.”

Reflection: Teachable means able to learn by being tought. This means that the students that want to master the subject(s) will do so by asking questions about the lecture or assignments to the teacher explaining the lesson. This student is teachable because he/ or she will want to absorb as much information until the student gets it.

Have Heart

Quote:
“To be rich,
Is not what you have in your bank account,
But what you have in your heart.”

Reflection: This quote is an excellent illustration the caption "Have Heart" because it indicates that it shouldn't matter how much money you have, but what matters is how you treat others. For example, the dog in the picture above shows compassion to the man who is penniless and disable, by giving up his bone. Another example, is when you help your community by picking up wrappers and/or trash found on the floor, even though the trash was not yours.

Reflection: We have been learning about the ”The Six Attitudes of High Achievers” which are: Make no small plans, Do what they fear, Are willing to prepare, Are willing to risk failure, Are teachable, and Have heart. In “make no small plans” means that there shouldn’t be just only small goals. This meaning that you make high goals/plans to push yourself to achieve them. Next is “do what they fear”, this means that you should take an extra mile to change the impossible into possible. Then there is “Are willing to prepare” this means that you are ready to learn. The next one is “Are willing to risk failure” this means that you okay with failing but will keep trying till you get it right or do it right. After this one is “Are teachable” meaning that you are willing to be taught instead of just giving up and not understanding the lesson. Lastly, there is “Have heart” this means that you should appreciate what you have and help others like shelters, homeless, or any other organization to help others and the community.
